Because of mobile devices, large portions of the population are always online and fueling the rapid growth of big data that can be valuable to marketing-oriented companies. The challenge is coping with this information overload, says Lawrence Coburn, CEO of DoubleDutch, a company specializing in apps for trade shows.

“Mobile and big data are intersecting because of the persistent connectivity that mobile brings,” he said. “With mobile you are always connected with the Internet and there is never downtime unless when you are sleeping. What we are finding is the amount of data shared on the Internet is growing proportionally to the number of mobile devices.”
